The Compartmentalization of Decay (CODIT) is about a maple tree’s ability to seal itself shut after being tapped. Man’s craving for maple syrup leaves a hole in the maple tree that cannot be healed and the only way the tree can protect itself from the ensuing decay is to form a wall. The power that CODIT draws from is the maple tree’s ability to seal the wound and grow over what is irreversible, leaving a forever scar inside the tree that the rings form around year after year. It is not a story of healing but of reflection and strength to keep on living after a traumatic event.
